Pre-Thanksgiving Feast

You missed some Great Food this week. Members of the Houston Texans and the Houston Firefighters thoroughly enjoyed fantastic turkey, dressing, greens, candied yams, dirty rice, lemon cake and sweet potato pie, etc. provided by Frenchy's and Glennlock Foods. Our event at Fire Station #33 went off without a hitch. Regina Woolfolk with the Texans and her crew were fantastic. My sister Karen pitched in to help. As you can see, we had great media coverage...

Elegant Evening!

The Holiday Season has started...My hubby and I were invited to dinner recently by our buddy Glenda. Her super chef buddy-- Charles whipped up a magnificent meal of salmon with sun dried tomatoes with a Chardonnay vinaigrette reduction and salmon with a rasberry kiwi vinaigrette with cracked pepper and sea salt. Grilled sauteed squash, scallions, and orange bell peppers were a treat along with the grilled portobello mushrooms and sauteed mussels. The wines of choice were a 2004 Sonoma Ridge Chardonnay and a 2005 Panarroz Jumilla. Charles, the Super chef picked up everything from Central Market and Specs. Charles says cooking is relaxing and a chance for him to be free, experience new flavors, textures, smells and educate the palate. What a wonderful evening surrounded by great friends, wonderful food, find jazz, and awesome art- Glenda is a big collector.. Let the Holiday's BEGIN.. By the way, my photo was used for one of Glenda's art pieces by Lionell Lofton. By the way, Charles is a private chef.. e-mail me, and I'll send his information. info@darianward.com.

Afghanistan - Landscape

I found more photos from my bro, Jerome Ward. Mr. Hard worker, life-saving, Sargeant. He's back home saving lives and bossing people around in Tennessee. Family comes first, that's the lesson he learned in Afghanistan. There must be a way to close the wounds...and let the healing begin in Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa. OK, I'm done preaching...for now...

Mike Jones Movie - Mrs. Williams

I've been talking about the new Mike Jones movie - American Dream. So here are a couple of pictures of me in character as Mrs. Williams. In my scene, I played Mike's friend's mom- Mrs. Williams. Yes, a young mom...We tried to put a little powder in my hair and I had a little shawl to age my character. In the PIVOTAL scene, I have a flat tire late at night and Mike drives by then notices it's Mrs. Williams.. He swings back around in his Sleek, Black BENTLEY, gets out and changes the tire for me.. He saves Mrs. Williams from the unknown...It was a fun scene, we hug and he sends me on my way... You're going to really like this movie.. It's about his life in Houston. American Dream the movie and the CD comes out in December.

NATPE/FOX Diversity Fellows

It's just a matter of time before my development deal comes through. We are talking with a couple of cable entities and one network. We're expecting GREAT things with the A-Listers we have assembled for our MONSTER HIT. I'll keep you posted. By the way, I was selected to participate this summer as a NATPE/FOX Diversity Fellow. We had a great time in Los Angeles.

Chris Rock - I Think I Love My Wife

On the set of Chris Rock's movie- "I Think I Love My Wife." We hung out in Manhattan this summer. Kerry Washington co-stars with Chris. It was so funny. We heard about the movie as we were shoppping in the city. I pulled out my camera and as I was fumbling with it, Chris and his bodyguards walked right by me. If I had turned around just a split second sooner, imagine the photo I would have taken.. I'm ALWAYS going to be ready from now on.. You just never know when your next opportunity will pop up.. Unfortunately, I hear Chris and his wife are getting a divorce. I hate to hear that... What a powerful couple.

Action Has No Season

Make Sure you pick up Michael V. Roberts' book, Action Has No Season. It's wonderful. Check out Chapter 2. SHAPE YOUR VISION. Throughout history, mankind's success, as a whole and individually, has been revealed through the fulfillment of our innate potential. Potential is only realized through work. In an attempt to work, one must take Action. Work is the essential function of everyone's being. If you're not working, you're not exposing your inner potential. Every person has a dream. A dream is a planted seed in your imagination. Most people have many dreams. These thoughts supply you with goals that you would like to attain. In order to achieve your dreams, you must first wake-up. A dream without Action is a fantasy. Waking up is taking action. Shaping your dream into a reality requires you to work a plan of Action. Action serves as the means to summon change. You must comprehend the plan of Action's importance and employ it to turn your goals into accomplishments. GO AND PICK UP THE BOOK.. CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Life Is GREAT!

Life is GREAT! It's been a whirlwind year and it's not over yet! I had a chance to hang out in New York, on the Manhattan set of Chris Rock's new movie- "I Think I Love My Wife." I won a NATPE/FOX Diversity Fellowship in Los Angeles this summer, appeared in the Hollywood Reporter and on Entertainment Tonight with Grey's Anatomy actors, Chandra Wilson and Isaiah Washington. My hubby, Byron Nichols and I recently won a GREAT award - The Minority Media Firm of the Year! A TV development deal is also in the works...
